Inside Scoop On Why Rosie O'Donnell Left The View

Neo-Con producer's effort to discredit O'Donnell before host exited ABC show

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Friday, May 25, 2007

UPDATE: Following our earlier article, ABC have now confirmed that Rosie has left The View with immediate effect.

RELATED: O'Donnell quits U.S. talk show early after spat

Management and sources close to Rosie O'Donnell tell us that the host of The View is incensed with what seems to be a deliberate campaign to discredit her before she exits the show and that Rosie may cut short her contract and leave early next week.

The show was again in the headlines this week following O'Donnell's blazing row with Neo-Con Stepford Wife Elizabeth Hasselbeck.

Prominent 9/11 truth activists William Rodriguez and the Loose Change crew were set to feature on the ABC broadcast as guests yesterday, but the entire show was cancelled in favor of carrying a Rose Garden Bush speech.

We are told that ABC always knew Rosie wasn't going to host the show yesterday but misleadingly failed to alter the schedule stating that the 9/11 truth representatives were set to feature.

Now we understand that there is a deliberate effort on behalf of the show's Neo-Con producer to drag Rosie's reputation through the mud in the final weeks of her hosting appearances.

This is an orchestrated attempt to discredit O'Donnell and make other TV networks think twice about handing her a new show.

O'Donnell is deeply incensed by this move and is considering walking out on the show early next week. She is meeting today with ABC chiefs in an attempt to resolve the matter but could be gone within days.

O'Donnell has consistently sparked controversy for being the lone voice on daytime television in speaking out against the war in Iraq and questioning the official story behind 9/11.

We also understand that Rosie is seeking another forum to go fully public on 9/11 and present more evidence that directly contradicts the government's version of events.

RE: Hannity & Colmes: Guest Wishes For Bat To Go After Rosie

Hannity & Colmes Guest Wishes
For Bat To Go After Rosie “Like A Human Piñata”

Newshounds

Friday May 25, 2007

Hannity & Colmes hosted the self-aggrandizing loudmouth, Curtis Sliwa
for yet another discussion about Rosie O’Donnell last night (5/24/07).
The show continued to ignore the Alberto Gonzales scandal and Monica Goodling’s
significant testimony before Congress the day before. But last night,
the show devoted an entire segment to “the day after” the
tiff between Rosie O’Donnell and Elizabeth Hasselbeck. That big
news had received a double segment as the top story the night before.
Sliwa, who made his name by heading a civilian anti-crime force during
the 1970’s, nevertheless enthusiastically yearned for a baseball
bat to go after Rosie O’Donell “like a human piñata.”
With video.

Chalk Sliwa up as another FOX News pundit with an unrevealed skeleton
in his closet. In Sliwa’s case, it’s the admission that he
lied about six episodes of derring-do in order to garner publicity for
his organization. As the 12/14/92 edition of People Weekly reported,

It was the sort of thing that seemed to happen a lot to Curtis Sliwa,
the headline-grabbing leader of New York City's red-bereted Guardian Angels.
As he told the story 12 years ago, he was patrolling a subway station
late one night with his band of volunteer peacekeepers. Three men approached,
detectives with the New York City Transit Police. They said a Guardian
Angel working in another subway station had been seriously hurt and rushed
to a hospital. Sliwa said he had gone with the men -- but they didn't
take him to the hospital. Instead, he said, they drove him to a beach
40 miles away and dumped him with a warning: If the Guardian Angels didn't
quit patrolling the subways, they would kill him.

The incident was front-page news in New York City in October 1980. The
only problem, says Sliwa, 38, is that the story was a lie. There was no
injured Angel, no detectives, no kidnapping, no death threat. He made
everything up, he admits, simply to get publicity for the Guardian Angels,
a quasi-military civilian security force he formed in 1979 to patrol the
city's streets and subways. "Everyone was against us," he says.
"The Mayor, the cops, even the public. We just needed some good attention."

Sliwa, now 53, continues to wear the Guardian Angels signature red beret
(rumored to hide his baldness) and jacket like a former jock parading
around in a high school football jersey. His rude, crude remarks were
not just accepted, they seemed to be welcome.

It was pretty clear that Sliwa had planned his “joke” about
wanting to attack Rosie in advance. First, he worked into the discussion
that she likes to hang upside down “like a bat.” Then, pantomiming
beating her with a club, he added, “and I only wish I had that bat
to take at her like a human piñata.” The other guest, Ellis
Henican, laughed loudly.

Sliwa added with hammy gestures, “She’s a bully girl.”

Alan Colmes said, “You just said you want to hit her with a bat
and SHE’S a bully?”

Obviously relishing the spotlight, Sliwa went on to compare her to Jabba
The Hutt.

Sean Hannity didn’t mind a bit that Sliwa had just advocated physical
harm to someone on the air. He continued to vilify Rosie. “She is
mean, she is nasty, she’s a bully and she’s also ignorant
on the facts,” Hannity, the pot, said. He went on to attack her
for saying “The terrorists are mothers and fathers, too.”
Let’s see, which is worse, saying that terrorists are mothers and
fathers or advocating attacking someone with a baseball bat? Obviously,
for Hannity, it’s the former.

Hannity continued with Hanctimonious outrage. “Her statement here
is that 655,000 Iraqi civilians have died, which is a lie, number one.”
In fact, that’s not a lie. It may be incorrect but that is the figure
that the respected British medical journal The Lancet arrived at last
October.

Sliwa offered another of what seemed like a premeditated bon mot. “Given
the choice between President George W. Bush – like him or not like
him – it seems she would favor President – I think you got
his name right – I’m in the mood for Jihad, there in Iran.”
Sliwa was so pleased with his humor, he repeated it.

Sliwa continued, “Now you can criticize our president. But if you
notice, there’s a certain venom (his voice rose dramatically and
his hands gestured theatrically) that pores from her lips. The sarcasm
drips from her lips.”

Hannity pointed his bullyboy pen and shouted at Henican, “When
do you stand up and say enough is enough from this bully and this ignoramus?”
Sliwa nodded his head emphatically.

I so wished that Henican had said the obvious: Why didn't Hannity stand
up and say enough is enough when his own guest advocated violence against
someone else? But, like most of the Democratic guests on the show, Henican
didn’t seem to mind that a woman was being demeaned and abused (if
not actually threatened) because she had been outspoken with an opinion
Hannity and company didn’t like.

As the segment ended, Colmes at least worked in an attempt to address
that point. “Just because you don’t support the president’s
policies (doesn’t) mean you support Saddam Hussein or Osama bin
Laden,” he said.

I figure that’s about as far as he can go as a host. What’s
the guest’s excuse?

Rosie Fights Last Fight on 'The View'
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer

NEW YORK - Rosie O'Donnell has fought her last fight at "The View." ABC said Friday she asked for, and received, an early exit from her contract at the daytime chatfest following her angry confrontation with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Wednesday. She was due to leave in mid-June.

It ended a colorful eight-month tenure for O'Donnell that lifted the show's ratings but no doubt caused heartburn for show creator Barbara Walters. O'Donnell feuded with Donald Trump and frequently had snippy exchanges with the more conservative Hasselbeck.

O'Donnell said last month she would be leaving because she could not agree to a new contract with ABC executives.

"Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at `The View,'" Walters said. "I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change."

In a statement, O'Donnell said that "it's been an amazing year and I love all three women."

No one was feeling the love on Wednesday, when the argument with Hasselbeck began over O'Donnell's statement last week about the war: "655,000 Iraqi civilians have died. Who are the terrorists?"

Talk show critics accused O'Donnell of calling U.S. troops terrorists. She called Hasselbeck "cowardly" for not saying anything in response to the critics.

"Do not call me a coward, because No. 1, I sit here every single day, open my heart and tell people what I believe," Hasselbeck retorted, and their riveting exchange continued despite failed attempts by their co-hosts to cut to a commercial.

According to a New York Post report, O'Donnell's chief writer, Janette Barber, was allegedly led out of the building on Wednesday after she was caught drawing mustaches on photographs of Hasselbeck in "The View" studios. ABC executives didn't return repeated calls for questions on the incident Friday.

On Thursday O'Donnell had asked for a day off to celebrate her partner's birthday. "The View" aired a taped show on Friday.

On her Web site, O'Donnell posted a scrapbooklike video on Friday with pictures and news clippings of her tenure at "The View." Cyndi Lauper's "Sisters of Babylon" played in the background.

A day earlier, she posted messages on her Web site indicating she might not be back.

"When painting there is a point u must step away from the canvas as the work is done," she wrote. "Any more would take away."

RE: Rosie & Elisabeth lose their tempers The View (Full version)

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: Elsewhere's Daughter

Here is the full version of this morning's Rosie O'Donnell/Elisabeth Hasselbeck fight. (May 23, 2007)

Ms. Hasselbeck is nothing more than a right wing shill who cannot think for herself. She cannot help but "challenge" Ms. Behar's facts with her "opinions". Rosie O'Donnell jumps in and is spot on about everything she says, but is very emotional about it and this leads to the biggest fight I think I've ever seen on this show.

Rosie takes it personally because she truly believes (believed) that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was her friend, outside of their political differences. When Rosie pointed out, correctly, that the 600,000+ innocent people killed as a result of this war can be considered terrorism by the Muslim world, any sane, rational, person with more than two brain cells knew that she was not calling the troops terrorists.

But then Fox News and others did just that. And Elisabeth didn't defend her at all, which is why Rosie took it so personally. Instead, Elisabeth did what she always does, which is repeat what her masters at Fox News say, because she can't think for herself.

If your so called friend sides with people who are publicly attacking you and misrepresenting your words, you take it personally. That is human nature. Elisabeth Hasselbeck chose political groupthink over friendship. There was no reason she couldn't have simply given a "no" answer to the question. Instead, she chose to dodge and defend the people like Sean Hannity who lied about what Rosie actually said.

If I was Rosie, I would react in the same way.

RE: Loose Change Creators on The View May 24th

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: Future Political Prisoner
Date: May 17, 2007 3:27 PM

source

According to a release from ABC, Korey Rowe and Dylan Avery, creators of the 9/11 conspiracy documentary Loose Change will appear on the May 24th show.

Also listed is William Rodriguez, who was a janitor at the North Tower of the World Trade Center, who has since become part of the 9/11 truth movement.

The only other guests listed for that date are the winners of Dancing With the Stars, so it appears that the show will not have representatives from both sides of the topic.

Rosie O’Donnell has said before that we have been hearing the other side for years, so maybe the show will only cover the topic from one angle. However, since the show line-up often goes through changes before the show is taped, it is possible that they might be adding additional guests.

It is also possible that they might have the other side in another segment on a different day.

If you are unfamiliar with the documentary, it is available on YouTube.

RE: Hannity's Double Standard: 'Video' O.K. For Imus, Not Rosie

Hannity's Double Standard: Bigoted Jokes From Imus Are Free Speech! Rosie Criticizes Bush? Harmful To America!

Newshounds
Thursday April 26, 2007

Sean Hannity, so outraged over the "slippery slope" for free speech over the firing of Don Imus and the suspensions of JV and Elvis for making bigoted jokes, had a complete change of heart last night (4/25/07) when it came to Rosie O'Donnell going off the air. All of a sudden, his concern for free speech evaporated as he melodramatically accused Rosie of harming America by criticizing the Bush administration. With video.

On the night that Imus was fired by MSNBC, Hannity fretted about its chilling effect on free speech for broadcasters. "Imus is off the air. Some say he is the victim of his own words but tonight others are asking if he will only be the first victim of a new movement to control what broadcasters say on the airwaves. Who's next? Rush Limbaugh? Neal Boortz? Maybe even little old me. Joining us now with more on these chilling developments…"

What Hannity meant, of course, was that he was concerned about the effect on conservative broadcasters. He went through the motions of defending O'Donnell's free speech: "I don't care what she says. I make my living with free speech." But, seconds later, he said, "The president is a war criminal. He ought to be tried at The Hague. He's a dictator…. What she said was hurtful to the families on 9/11." Hannity never offered any proof that was so.

Funny, Hannity didn't care about the hurt feelings of Asians when guest Vicki Shu Smolin, of the Organization of Chinese Americans, said she wanted radio hosts JV and Elvis fired for their bigoted prank call to a Chinese restaurant. Smolin said, "There's funny, and there's funny that hurts. And this is where funny hurts. And, you know, it's not even just about, you know, freedom of speech here."

"Sensitive" Hannity replied, "But you don't have to listen to it, do you? You don't have to tune into this radio station… And, look, I'm not saying you have to listen to these guys. I don't even like some of this humor. It's not what I do on the radio. But I'm very — you have to see that we've got to be concerned about free speech here." No such concern about free speech with Rosie, though.

During last night's discussion, a montage of "Rosie's greatest hits" (as the chyron described it) was played. But during the segments about Imus, his long history of racially incendiary remarks was largely overlooked.

Hannity & Colmes continued to ignore the troubles of the Bush administration last night as it devoted its first three segments to O'Donnell (the one below is Part 2). Tonight, their special guest will be Imus' former executive producer (and cohort in bigoted jokes), Bernard McGuirk. Something tells me free speech will be front and center again (and the videos will disappear) as the show milks these tabloid stories for all their worth and more.

As the Bush administration woes mount, I'll bet that somewhere in America, a FOX News operative is scouring phone machines for another "shocking" message from Alec Baldwin. Or maybe they could do a few weeks on Natalee Holloway still being missing.
