RE: WHAT IF WE COULD VOTE ON POLICIES RATHER THAN POLITICIANS?

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: Pan Man

Voting for politicians selected to run by the elite masters who keep us in slavery will never bring us us "change". In America, we should be able to vote for or against war, economic policies, fluoride in our water, whether or not to "bail out" corporate bankers and institutions, to criminalize or legalize substances like marijuana or LSD, to have a draft or not, to give politicians raises or not, to spend our tax money for infrastructure or health care, etc etc.

Now that would be a Democratic Republic! I could use a change like that!

Former Senator Mike Gravel Calls for Independent 9/11 Investigation and Prosecution of President Bush and Vice President Cheney
Democracy Now!
June 17, 2008

The former Democratic senator from Alaska discusses his presidential campaign, his role in the releasing of the Pentagon Papers and his support for the NYC 9/11 Ballot Initiative Campaign, a grassroots group seeking to place an initiative on the ballot of the November 6th general election allowing registered New York City voters to create a new commission to investigate 9/11.

RE: NADER praises Ron Paul & Mike Gravel...

----------------- Bulletin Message -----------------
From: Kelly Halldorson is for RON PAUL 2008!!
Date: Jul 5, 2007 3:52 PM

EXCERPT:
-------------------------------------
And while Nader, 73, realizes he might once again be accused of being a "spoiler" candidate, he says the Democrats could win in 2008, unless they spoil things for themselves.

"Democrats have become, over the years, very good at electing very bad Republicans," Nader said. "Democrats always know how to implode, how to be ambiguous, how to waver, how not to be authentic."

While Nader praised two candidates who have almost no chance of winning their party's nomination -- Republican Ron Paul and Democrat Mike Gravel -- he was severe in his criticism of Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

"She is a political coward," Nader said. "She goes around pandering to powerful interest groups on the one hand and flattering general audiences on the other. She doesn't even have the minimal political fortitude of her husband."

RE: Mike Gravel, No Bullshit Candidate

Has to be either this dude or Ron Paul.

Mike Gravel granted an interview to NYMAG.COM:

So what was it like driving a taxi in 1950?

Once I picked up Walter Winchell at the Ritz at 2 a.m. He'd been at a card game with some detectives, getting his information. He was funny, but he was sober. I also once drove Jim Farley, who was FDR's campaign manager.

---------------------------------------
How did being a cabbie equip you to be president?

It taught me that people have both good and bad in them, and that with the proper leadership, you can draw upon what's good, unlike our president, who's only brought out the bad.
---------------------------------------
Do you agree with the current taxi lobby that pedicabs in New York City should be limited in number?

I really can't comment on that intelligently. As president, when I don't know the details of an issue, I'll tell you.
---------------------------------------
You want to replace the income tax with a progressive sales tax and allow citizens to bypass elected officials in enacting laws. Are you worried that, at last week's debates, you were just entertainment?

Most pundits, even you, don't understand what the hell I'm talking about. I want you to share power with me and Congress.
---------------------------------------
You singled out Hillary, Obama, and Edwards last week as frightening you. What would you say to Hillary alone in an elevator?

I'd say, "You're a decent person, but you're not qualified to be president." What else am I going to tell her? "Oh, I like your hairdo"? Give me a break.
---------------------------------------
What would you say to Obama?

"Electing you would be like electing Hamlet — you appear to be too intelligent to land on one side or the other of an issue."
---------------------------------------
Why did you ask him alone whom he's planning to nuke?

I did not single him out.
---------------------------------------
Yes, you did. I watched the video three times.

Oh, please. Watch it again. He said that everything is on the table with respect to Iran, which is code for nukes. That's why I went at him.
---------------------------------------
Do you think Dennis Kucinich is angry you're stealing his thunder as the
left-wing fringe candidate?

Stop that. I'm not the far-left fringe candidate, and please don't write that. We've had somewhat of a testy conversation in this interview, and now we've got to end this. —Tim Murphy

Wow, talk about AWESOME!!

A MUST SEE 6 or 7 minute video clip

From: Pan Man

I am speechless! A politician currently in office said what he really thinks and feels in a democratic debate!
The Truth sounds so strange coming from the mouth of a politician, doesn't it? The Kennedy's, Cynthia McKinney and now Mike Gravel. You know what happened to the Kennedy's and Cynthia McKinney. Guess whose next? If I were Mike Gravel, no plane flights back home to Alaska would be on my schedule now. It is very common for "dissidents" to fall out of the sky for some reason.....
