Open Letter Ignites Large Public Interest

What Must A Free People Do?

As planned, on Monday and Wednesday of this week, WTP published the full-page Open Letter to Mr.. Obama in the Chicago Tribune.. The letter respectfully requests that he direct the state of Hawaii to provide access to his original 1961 (“vault”) birth certificate, and that he arrange for delivery to the National Press Club of certain other documents, all for the purpose of providing evidence of his eligibility..

The public response and attention by the media, has been nothing short of astonishing..

Apparently, the publication of the Open Letter and huge reaction it generated has largely forced the media to finally acknowledge the existence of the Obama citizenship controversy, apparently abandoning the desires of their collective management to smother the story..

Almost immediately after the paper hit the streets of Chicago Monday morning, requests started coming in for interviews from print, broadcast and on-line news outlets, including several clear- channel (reserved frequency, high-wattage AM) radio stations from around the country.. It’s been non-stop all week.. Here is a link to an audio recording of a brief interview with WGN, Chicago’s leading 50,000 watt, clear-channel radio station..

On Tuesday, December 2, the Tribune’s local competitor, the Chicago Sun-Times published a column by Mary Mitchell about the open letter.. Granted, columnists do take liberties, but her column was not only riddled with important factual errors, it was largely “over-the-top” and arguably inflammatory, referring to me indirectly as one of the “skinheads from Tennessee who planned to dress up in coattails and top-hats and go on a racist killing spree before targeting Obama..”& In response, thousands of Chicagoans flooded the Sun-Times with their comments, both pro and con.. I am preparing a rebuttal that will soon be sent to the paper as a suggested “guest essay..”

On Wednesday, the Tribune published a news article by Sara Olkon and James Janega about the Open Letter.. It too, contained serious omissions, as well as false and misleading statements regarding critical parts of the citizenship controversy.. In response, thousands of Chicagoans flooded the Tribune with their comments, pro and con.. We are preparing a rebuttal to be submitted as soon as possible..

Monday: WTP Press Conference in DC

As planned, on Monday, December 8, WTP will conduct a press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, DC..

Yesterday, we issued a press release about the event.. We sent the release to approximately 400 media outlets, including those on the attached list.. The press conference will feature three of the attorneys behind cases now at the Supreme Court..

Almost immediately, the Wall Street Journal posted a item on its “Market Watch..” We expect a fair amount of press coverage.. On Monday morning the Supreme Court will also release its decision regarding whether to hear the case by attorney Leo Donofrio who challenged the failure of the New Jersey secretary of state to verify the eligibility of the Presidential candidates scheduled to appear on the ballot..

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 1:30 pm..

WHAT IF?

U.S.. Senator Mel Martinez wrote in his letter dated December 1, 2008:

“Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election.. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party's nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history.. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States.. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama's birthplace were raised.. The voters have made clear their view that Mr.. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President..”

Sen.. Martinez would have us believe that our form of government is a pure democracy, rather than a constitutional Republic..

What if, ostensibly for the same reason, Mr.. Obama refuses to respond to our Open Letter? ..

What if the Supreme Court refuses to hear the Petitions by attorneys Donofrio, Berg and Taitz, ostensibly for the same reason – that is, that the voters have made clear their view that Mr.. Obama is eligible?

What then?

Would not this violation of the “natural born citizen” clause of the Constitution amount to our “capstone grievance,” capping all the other constitutional violations for which we have been seeking Redress?

Since 1995, we have repeatedly and respectfully petitioned the Government for Redress of its violations of the war powers, money, tax, privacy, property, and other prohibitions and restrictions placed on the Government by the People.. We have established a record of numerous violations by the Government and its refusal to justify its behavior or be held accountable..

The record is so clear and unambiguous that it leaves no room for misinterpretation.. The servants are taking over the house that our Creator built..

What must a free people do? What would they deem to be the appropriate next step?

The Pennsylvania Democrat who has sued Sen. Barack Obama demanding he prove his American citizenship – and therefore qualification to run for president – has confirmed he has a recording of a telephone call from the senator's paternal grandmother confirming his birth in Kenya

The issue of Obama's birthplace, which he states is Honolulu in 1961, has been raised enough times that his campaign website has posted an image purporting to be of his "Certification of Live Birth" from Hawaii

But Philip J. Berg, a former deputy attorney general for Pennsylvania, told the Michael Savage talk radio program tonight that the document is forged and that he has a tape recording he will soon release

"This has been a real sham he's pulled off for the last 20 months," Berg told Savage. "I'll release it [the tape] in a day or two, affidavits from her talking to a certain person. I heard the tape. She was speaking [to someone] here in the United States"

He said the telephone call was from Obama's paternal grandmother affirming she "was in the delivery room in Kenya when he was born Aug. 4, 1961"

Berg said he's pursuing the issue because of "the most important document in the United States," the U.S. Constitution

"Nothing is more important than enforcing the Constitution," he said. "The Constitution's provisions are very small for qualifying for president. One, be over 35, and he is. Two, be in the country 14 years, and he has been. Three, be a natural-born citizen. He is not"

Obama campaign officials acknowledged the dispute by posting the image purporting to be a copy of his certification of live birth earlier this year. But they've declined to return WND requests for comment on the issues

WND reported earlier this week Berg's claim that Obama has legally "admitted" the accusations included in his lawsuit, including that he was born in Mombosa, Kenya, by not responding to the allegations

Berg filed suit in U.S. District Court in August alleging Obama is not a natural-born citizen and is thus ineligible to serve as president of the United States

His lawsuit is demanding that the courts verify Obama's original birth certificate

Berg has cited Rule 36 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, which states that unless the accused party provides written answer or objection to charges within 30 days, the accused legally admits the matter

Since Obama filed only motions to dismiss the case and did not actually answer the claims, according to Rule 36, Obama has legally admitted he is not a natural-born citizen., asserted Berg, who has taken his information public through his website

Berg addressed the existence of a birth announcement in the Honolulu Advertiser newspaper, featured on the Atlasshrugs2000 website, that suggests Obama was born in the city Aug. 4, 1961

But Berg explained to Savage he believes Obama's mother was near the end of her pregnancy and unable to travel by plane, so Obama was born in Kenya. The family then traveled to Hawaii and registered the birth and submitted the newspaper announcement

Besides Berg's lawsuit, several other court challenges also have been filed, including one in Washington state where petitioners are seeking to have the Washington secretary of state "verify Obama's eligibility" to serve prior to the election

The claim states, "The 'certificate' that Mr. Obama has posted on his official Website is a 'Certification of Live Birth,' and not a 'Birth Certificate' from Hawaii. There is no indication on even this certificate as to specifically where the birth took place"

Berg also told Savage there is no information available on which hospital Obama's mother used in Hawaii

The Washington state case also alleges, "Wayne Madsen, Journalist with Online Journal as a contributing writer and published an article on June 9, 2008, stating that a research team went to Mombassa, Kenya, and located a Certificate Registering the birth of Barack Obama, Jr. at a Kenya Maternity Hospital, to his father, a Kenyan citizen and his mother, a U.S. citizen

When Jerome Corsi, senior WND investigator reporter, recently traveled to Kenya to investigate several questions about the candidate, he was told the records were sealed and would not be made available

Though it hasn't given Berg the evidence he seeks, the Obama campaign has publicly answered allegations that the candidate was born in Kenya and faked his Hawaii birth certificate

"Smears claiming Barack Obama doesn't have a birth certificate aren't actually about that piece of paper," says the "Fight the Smears" section of Obama's website, "they're about manipulating people into thinking Barack is not an American citizen

"The truth is, Barack Obama was born in the state of Hawaii in 1961, a native citizen of the United States of America," the campaign website states. It also includes images of the Hawaii certificate bearing the name Barack Hussein Obama II

The Washington claim states, "If in fact Obama was born in Kenya, the laws on the books in the United States at the time of his birth stated if a child is born abroad and one parent was a U.S. Citizen, which would have been his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, Obama's mother would have had to live ten (10) years in the United States, five (5) of which were after the age of fourteen (14). At the time of Obama's birth, his mother was only eighteen (18) and therefore did not meet the residency requirements under the law to give her son (Obama) U.S. Citizenship much less the status of 'natural born'"

Berg said he believed it also was a complication that Obama's mother divorced his father, married and moved to Indonesia for several years and Obama attended school there at a time when, Berg said, only Indonesia citizens were allowed in schools. Records that are available from Indonesia revealed Obama was registered in school as Barry Soetoro, and his religion was listed as Islam

When Obama later returned to Hawaii, within the United States, there should have been a government document affirming his citizenship, but that also cannot be found. If that was not processed properly, Berg said, Obama would be in a situation even worse than not being a natural-born citizen

"If he didn't go through immigration, he now is illegal and has been an illegal alien. He couldn't even hold the position of senator for Illinois," Berg said

Further, Berg said he suspected Obama's college records may indicate he received aid as a foreigner, and that's why those records have been withheld by the campaign

"I really think it's because it probably indicates he's from Kenya, or Indonesia, or received foreign aid," Berg said

"I feel very confident saying these things," Berg told Savage

In a chapter of "The Obama Nation" titled "Kenya, Odinga, Communism, and Islam," Corsi says Obama supported the candidacy of Odinga, a Luo tribesman like Obama's father, in the 2007 Kenyan presidential election, opposing current president Mwai Kibaki, a member of Kenya's largest tribe, the Kikuyu

Corsi revealed that Obama not only campaigned for Odinga but raised almost $1 million during the run-up to that nation's 2007 presidential election. Corsi also uncovered Odinga's written agreement with Muslim leaders stipulating that if they delivered him the Muslim vote, Odinga would, if elected, change the constitution to declare Islamic law as the ruling authority in Muslim-dominated regions, protect terrorists and muzzle Christian evangelism

Odinga was named prime minister in Kenya after his campaign called for protests of an election he lost by more than 200,000 votes to incumbent Mwai Kibaki. The resulting violence by marauding Muslim mobs left 1,000 people dead, hundreds of thousands displaced from their homes and 800 Christian churches damaged or destroyed. Brian Cherry, writing for The New Media Journal, says "The question regarding Barack Obama's eligibility to run for President based on questions regarding his status as natural born United States citizen has reached the Hawaiian Supreme Court"

Andy Martin, an Illinois journalist and Democrat, has petitioned the court to expedite the release of Obama's birth records so that the issue can be put to rest once and for all. Cherry writes, "For months there has been speculation about Barack's birth status among other issues associated with his birth certificate. This has been helped along by the campaign's reluctance to produce uncontestable records of the Senators birth and status as a natural born citizen of the United States. When the Obama campaign did release a scan of Obama's birth certificate its noticeable lack of an embossed seal among other inconsistencies with proper Hawaiian birth certificates simply fueled the speculation of critics"

Now, it's no secret that I'm anti-Obama and that I would love to see John McCain win the presidency on November 4. But this particular issue has always struck me as kind of strange The first question that pops into my head is, "Isn't there a process for determining eligibility as soon as someone files the paperwork to become a candidate?" Wouldn't this responsibility fall on the shoulders of the FEC?

Mr. Cherry contributes to the continued speculation about the birth certificate, saying, "Presidential candidate Barack Obama has also indirectly interjected himself into the situation. During the same week that Mr. Martin's request was made to the Hawaiian Supreme court, Barack is suspending his campaign for a few days in order to visit his sick grandmother in Hawaii. Unnamed sources claim that he is bringing along a team of lawyers on this visit to an ailing relative. The Obama campaign has not yet answered our query regarding whether Barack has brought a legal team with him to Hawaii"

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if he brought lawyers with him. We're less than two weeks out from an election and I imagine every word he utters and every action he takes is based on legal advice

Politifact. com, a fact check web site, says, "Unlike other documents, Hawaii birth certificates aren't public record. Only family members can request copies, so when the campaign declined to give us one, we were stalled." After the Obama campaign released a copy of the birth certificate, however, Politifact says they went a step further: "We e-mailed it to the Hawaii Department of Health, which maintains such records, to ask if it was real. ‘It's a valid Hawaii state birth certificate,' spokesman Janice Okubo told us." Still, questions persisted

Politifact says, "When the official documents were questioned, we went looking for more answers." "If this document is forged," Politifact says, "a U.S. senator and his presidential campaign have perpetrated a vast, long-term fraud. They have done it with conspiring officials at the Hawaii Department of Health, the Cook County (ILL.) Bureau of Vital Statistics, the Illinois Secretary of State's office, the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois and many other government agencies"

There are plenty of things about Senator Obama that concern me, but his birth certificate is not one of them

Following a debate during Thursday's Democratic candidates forum at the NAACP convention, news agency microphones picked up comments by Sens. Hillary Clinton and John Edwards as they discussed limiting future debates to only "serious" candidates.

"We should try to have a more serious and smaller group," Edwards, a former U.S. senator from North Carolina, was heard saying as his comments were picked up by a Fox News microphone.

Agreeing, Clinton, D-N.Y., responded, "We've got to cut the number . . . They're not serious."

At that point, Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois and Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio walked by, with Clinton thanking them for attending. The, turning back to Edwards, she said she believed their campaigns had already attempted to limit candidates in the debate and "we've gotta get back to that."

Kucinich did not respond well to the comments. "Imperial candidates are as repugnant to the American people and to our democracy as an imperial president," he said.
