A San Bernardino County jury Thursday acquitted a former sheriff's deputy of attempted voluntary manslaughter for opening fire on an unarmed, off-duty Air Force police officer after a high-speed chase last year, a brutal shooting videotaped by a bystander and aired nationwide.

Ivory John Webb Jr., 46, the son of a former Compton, Calif., police chief, was the first law enforcement officer ever to face criminal charges for an on-duty shooting in San Bernardino County in Southern California. Webb, who also was acquitted of assault with a deadly firearm, faced up to an 18-year prison sentence.
The jury of eight men and four women had spent less than half a day deliberating after the four-week trial in the San Bernardino courtroom, a case dominated by the video footage of the January 2006 shooting on a residential street in Chino, Calif., and dueling experts on police tactics and use of deadly force.

The prosecution's case focused on 1 minute, 15 seconds of raw, shadowy video, recorded about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 29, 2006, that showed Webb towering over Elio Carrion and then opening fire as Carrion appeared to be following his order to get up from a sprawled position on the pavement.

Carrion survived the shooting and is on duty at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.

Carrion, a 23-year-old senior airman who was home on leave after a six-month tour in Iraq, had been a passenger in a Corvette that led Webb on a chase that reached 120 mph through residential neighborhoods, ending when the car crashed into a block wall and Carrion jumped out of the car and onto the ground.

In the video, Carrion is seen raising his left hand toward Webb at least twice and then Carrion appears to use his right hand to gesture as he tells Webb several times, "We're here on your side" and "We mean you no harm." Webb tells Carrion to keep his hands on the ground and then appears to tell Carrion to "get up." When Carrion says, "OK, I'm getting up," and starts to rise, Webb shoots him three times.

Prosecutor R. Lewis Cope also leaned heavily on police tactics experts, arguing the tape showed an angry deputy whose repeated tactical errors led him to fire on Carrion without provocation, including Webb's failure to wait for backup to arrive.

Lead tactics expert Joe Callanan, a former Los Angeles County sheriff's lieutenant who trained officers on the use of force during 22 years with the department, said Webb engaged in "extraordinarily risky" behavior and shouldn't have left the safety of his patrol car.

During his testimony, Callanan also insinuated that Webb's decision to fire his weapon was a "deliberate" act -- not a panicked response -- because the deputy paused for at least a half-second between each of the three shots he fired.

"Rapid fire is more typical of panic situation. Timed fire is more deliberate, more thoughtful," Callanan testified.

However, an expert witness for the defense told jurors that Webb was clearly justified in shooting because, as the video recording showed, Carrion ignored commands to keep his hands on the ground and appeared to reach into his Oakland Raiders jacket for a weapon just before the deputy opened fire.

"There were a couple of times where (Webb) would have been justified in firing," Inglewood (Calif.) Police Sgt. Kent Ferrin testified. "He showed great restraint." Webb's lead attorney, Michael Schwartz, hammered Carrion's credibility, arguing that Carrion was not a heroic Iraq veteran portrayed in the media but a "nameless, faceless suspect" who endangered Webb's life and the lives of others by failing to stop his drunk friend from leading police at more than 100 mph through residential streets.

Schwartz accused Carrion of intentionally misleading the jury about how drunk he was on the night of the shooting.

He argued a military policeman like Carrion should have known better than to argue with a police officer and disobey commands to stop talking and keep his hands on the ground when he was being held at gunpoint.

Schwartz argued that Webb fired in self-defense not just because of one movement by Carrion, but because of a combination of threatening movements that followed a pattern of noncompliance by the airman.

Webb, the only officer present during the shooting, initially told detectives that Carrion had lunged at him after ignoring orders to stay on the ground.

Several days later, after watching a clip of the video, the 46-year-old former deputy told detectives he believed Carrion was reaching for a weapon when he fired.

During the trial, the prosecutor seized on those conflicting statements, saying it showed Webb initially tried to deceive investigators and then was forced to change his story when he realized the shooting was caught on tape.

Webb's attorney dismissed the prosecutor's claims that Webb made conflicting statements to investigators, arguing that Webb's description of what happened in a two-hour interview after the shooting was supported by what was seen in the videotape.

Not every statement uttered that night, Schwartz said, can be heard on the videotape. He said even the transcript of the muddied voices on videotape was in dispute.

A defiant Korey Rowe promised his detractors "I'm not going anywhere" in a brief You Tube video last night after he was released from Fort Drum and headed to Fort Campbell to clear his name for good.

Rowe, an Iraq and Afghanistan combat veteran, is one of the producers of Loose Change, a wildly popular documentary that alleges U.S. government involvement in the 9/11 attack. He was arrested on Monday night on charges of desertion even though he had been out of the Army for two years and had made numerous public appearances since at which authorities could have apprehended him.

The 15 second You Tube clip was filmed at Boston Airport as Rowe prepared to depart for Fort Campbell Kentucky, watch the video below.

Rowe's case is an obvious example of political persecution, his movements over the last two years have largely been public knowledge and the arrest was obviously timed to coincide with the upcoming cinematic release of Loose Change Final Cut, and intended as a chilling effect for the rest of the 9/11 truth community.

As we highlighted yesterday, the Army court-martialed just 5% of deserters last year, with that number dropping to just 1 per cent or less for the Navy and the Marines. Rowe had satisfactorily completed his tour of duty and yet was grabbed by police and handed over to military officials on the basis of a tip-off the authorities received.

9/11 truth debunkers like Michelle "put every Muslim in a concentration camp" Malkin and Neo-Con blowhards Newsbusters applauded the arrest of American citizens for their political viewpoints yesterday, lamenting the fact that Rowe had not been kidnapped sooner as a result of his activism.

This whole episode has been a public relations disaster for the authorities and the debunkers, and it will only serve in bringing more attention to the theater debut of the Loose Change documentary, which is tentatively scheduled to be released on the weekend preceding September 11, 2007.

And as Korey Rowe defiantly stated, no matter what the Neo-Con press whores say about us and no matter what the authorities do to try and intimidate us - the 9/11 truth movement is here to stay and we are not going anywhere.

Ok, I don't know how to make this more clear.

1. We are not "stupid" for understanding politics, nor is anyone "stupid" for not understanding. Ignorance is perfectly curable;
2. People who believe in Truth, a real investingation into 9/11 and/or believe in other larger conspiracies such as the NWO are not in any way being asked to (a) not believe in what they do, or (b) not to support Dr. Paul;
3. NO ONE is suggesting that Truthers stop what they are doing as researchers or activists in any particular area; and
4. No one is being told to "shut up"

The responses below demonstrate a lack of understanding of how the political process works, as well as gross misinterpretations and misrepresentations of what was posted.

Dr. Paul voluntarily agreed to be on the Alex Jones show numerous times. This was a calculated decision on his part, no doubt. It serves two purposes - 1. To speak to those who have already taken the red pill and "woken up" to inform us of his position on issues, and 2. to let us know he exists, as he is not that high profile and many of us would never have heard of him otherwise.

Dr. Paul is a man of honor and integrity, and he values the Truth wherever it may lie. I cannot imagine he is not aware of the the ridiculousness of the government's assertion about 9/11.

In the real world of politics, while he can state the "taboo" truth about blowback of our foreign policy, he cannot (in the real world) state on a debate stage that 9/11 was an inside job. Does that make him a hypocrite or unfaithful to the Truth? No, of course not!

Why not? Because introducing the subject via previously publicized statements of intelligence analysts and the 9/11 Commission report has already (hopefully) caused many people to look into it. Think of it as an introduction to the Truth, using previously published government sources.

The reality is that most people cannot handle the all of the Truth in one dose; it is simply too large and too scary to process all at once, especially for brainwashed, fluoridated and bamboozled Americans. They automatically recoil in denial and outrage; he (or anyone) is immediately branded as a "kook" because it is easier than facing the Truth. Many will do this because they cannot bear to do otherwise. They would then vote against him no matter how good for the country he may be; they would hand the country over to anyone but him because of their misinformed preconceived notions they got from all the spin.

His simple truthful statement is already being furiously spun, although it is backfiring and can be used to his advantage for the moment but - if it continues and he is branded as the leader of 9/11 Truth or anti-NWO movements it will sink him.

Basically, he cannot go too far, too fast - that is the point we are making.

So, the real question is this:

Would you rather Dr Paul completely blow it by stating on the debate stage that 9/11 was an inside job and be ridiculed right out of the race? Or would you rather he goes as far as he can in the race, waking people up along the way?

The former is political suicide. The latter is the most logical and effective choice.

Politics is really, really ugly and dirty. Dr. Paul is obviously gaining support at a staggering rate because of his truthfulness and his Constitutional stance on issues. It is his Constitutional message that appeals to people across all artificial political boundaries; this is his greatest strength!! His opposition will use anything and everything against him, true or not. Since he is not bought and owned, they will redouble their efforts, whether what they say is true or not. Since so many people haven't yet taken the red pill and are still brainwashed and drinking fluoridated water, many won't bother to look into it once Dr. Paul is associated with conspiracy theories/theorists. That is the danger that was being stated below.

Again, no one is suggesting that any of you stop seeking the Truth, being active, or stop supporting Dr. Paul; no one is suggesting that anyone should apologize for being a Truther! Read it again.

What is being said, plainly and clearly is that Dr. Paul cannot be associated as the leader of the 9/11 Truth movement. It would be about as bad as a bunch of folks showing up at a Paul campaign rally wearing ET outfits. Voila! Instant marginalization - whether he was a member of the UFOlogy community or hates their guts, it wouldn't matter!

THIS IS POLITICS - this IS unfortunately how it works. We don't have to like it, admire it or anything of the sort, but we DO have to accept it. The system sucks, & a great many of the People are brainwashed -this is Reality and we have to work within Reality right now, even if we don't like it.

I know how desperate the situation is. I know and understand how much each of us wants others to wake up, how we want the administration and traitors to be held accountable, but such interpretations from our common sense statements is much like what Rudy did to Ron! Think about that for a minute.

Dr. Paul told the truth and he was attacked for it. His words were clear and plain and true, yet they were twisted around and misinterpreted and misrepresented.

That is exactly what some here are doing. It wasn't fair to Dr. Paul and it is not fair to Mr. Pepin or myself. Both of us have some experience in politics. Both of us are passing along truthful, common sense information and are being attacked, misinterpreted and misrepresented.

The truth is brutal sometimes, it is sometimes hard to face. But each of us here have done that already with much larger, uglier truths than this. C'mon, people.... we're all grown ups - and you CAN handle the truth.

But, I see this in a positive way. Ron Paul had been almost completely ignored by the media until this association with the Truth Movement. Now Ron Paul is getting the attention he needs and instead of dwelling on the Truth Movement he is also getting his campaign message across. At the same time the Truth Movement is getting attention in the mainstream media, and we know how curiosity killed the cat?!? (Satisfaction brought him back!) Think of how many people are now aware that there is actually a 9-11 Truth Movement and that it isn't regulated to the realm of 'Urban Legend' type of thing.

Will guilt by association hurt Ron Paul? If people are stupid enough to judge a person by one thing, then yes. If people are wise enough to view the whole, then no. I think people are more willing to listen to his message because he is against the war, he is for abolishing the income tax, and for actually doing something positive for this country. I'd be more worried about 'guilt by association' if I were Hillary 'You Know Me By My Husbands Blow-Job Fiasco' Clinton, or Mr. Rudy 'Look At The Blood On My Hands' Guliani.

I will not apologize for my involvement in the Truth Movement as a Ron Paul supporter, just as I will not apologize for my involvement in social justice issues, N.A.R.F. , my support of the Humane Society or my activities in the world of art.

Telling Truthers to not associate with Ron Paul is like telling us we are not allowed to vote.
