When it comes to health freedom, this is the FDA's end game.
A new FDA "guidance" document, published on the FDA's website, reveals plans to reclassify virtually all vitamins, supplements, herbs and even vegetable juices as FDA-regulated drugs. Massage oils and massage rocks will be classified as "medical devices" and require FDA approval. The document is called Docket No. 2006D-0480. Draft Guidance for Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration.
The FDA is accepting public comments on the docket until April 30th. They tried to sneak this under the radar, but word got out and now the natural health community is up in arms over this rule. If you wish to protect your access to nutritional supplements, herbs, essential oils, homeopathic medicine or any other "complementary" or "alternative" modality, it is crucial that you take action to post your comments with the FDA right now and write your representatives in Washington to put a stop to this outrageous effort to destroy natural medicine. (And be sure to really write them. Just sending an email has virtually no impact compared to writing a physical letter in your own words.)

This move by the FDA is designed to once and for all destroy the 1994 DSHEA law that has made supplements "legal" while eliminating nutritional supplements and natural medicine from the United States, ensuring monopoly profits and control by drug companies and the FDA. It is the latest action item by the FDA / Big Pharma conspiracy that will not stop until health freedom has been abolished, drug companies rule the nation, and every citizen is diagnosied with a fictitious disease and drugged up on monopoly-priced pharmaceuticals.
FDA "experts" will decide what's a drug or medical device Under these proposed guidelines, FDA "experts" (the same corrupt officials who reapproved Vioxx after it killed over 50,000 Americans) will decide whether herbs, supplements, vitamins or simple devices like massage stones are to be regulated as drugs and medical devices. If the FDA experts, in their infinite wisdom, decide that these things are to be reclassified, they will essentially be outlawed, stripped from the shelves, and regulated out of existence. Anyone who dares to manufacture, promote or sell such products may be branded a criminal and rounded up by armed FDA agents who have a well established history of suppressing natural medicine.
I've documented much of the criminal history of the FDA in my recent book, Natural Health Solutions and the Conspiracy to Keep You From Knowing About Them, which suddenly seems even more relevant today than when I wrote it. In that book, I documented the FDA ordered book burnings, the raids on vitamin shops, the kidnapping of natural health practitioners, the threats, intimidation and oppression tactics that have been used to suppress natural medicine for nearly a hundred years now. And now, with this CAM Products Regulation effort, the FDA is about to deal a final, fatal blow to the alternative medicine industry, outlawing nutritional supplements, functional foods, homeopathy and natural therapies all at once.
This is not a drill.
It really is time to be alarmed.
Nothing else I've written about this year is as important as this sinister plot to destroy natural medicine and force the American population to resort to dangerous prescription medications sold at monopoly prices under a system of medical tyranny. Your access to vitamins, supplements, herbs, and even energy medicine modalities is now directly threatened, and you have until April 30 to make your voice heard.
Action items
First, read the document yourself. Click here for the PDF version. Take special care to notice the following text, taken directly from the FDA's own document: (italicized text is from the FDA, with my own translation following) "...a product used in a CAM therapy or practice may be subject to regulation as a biological product, cosmetic, drug, device, or food (including food additives and dietary supplements) under the act or the PHS Act.
Second, neither the act nor the PHS Act exempts CAM products from regulation." Translation: Anything used in any system of medicine may now be regulated as a drug or medical device by the FDA.
This includes a biofeedback machine, acupuncture needles, a cup of herbal tea, massage oil, a glass of vegetable juice or even a bottle of water. "...if a person decides to produce and sell raw vegetable juice for use in juice therapy to promote optimal health... [and] if the juice therapy is intended for use as part of a disease treatment regimen instead of for the general wellness, the vegetable juice would also be subject to regulation as a drug under the Act."
Translation: Raw vegetable juice will be regulated as a drug and must be FDA approved as a drug if it has any health effect whatsoever. Handing a cup of raw vegetable juice to someone and telling them it's good for the detoxification of their liver will get you arrested for practicing medicine without a license and promoting an "unapproved drug." ..."biologically based practices" includes, but is not limited to, botanicals, animal-derived extracts, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, proteins, prebiotics and probiotics: whole diets, and "functional foods". ...a botanical product intended for use in treating a disease would generally be regulated as a drug." ..."functional foods" may be subject to FDA regulation as foods, dietary supplements, or drugs under the Act.
Translation: All foods, supplements, superfoods and functional foods may be reclassified as drugs by the FDA, then regulated off the market. If... the manipulative and body-based practices involve the use of equipment (such as massage devices) or the application of a product (such as a lotion, cream, or oil) to the skin or other parts of the body, those products may be subject to regulation under the Act."
Translation: Massage oils and creams will be regulated as "drugs" and acupuncture needles as "medical devices." Taking this absurdity one step further, massage therapists who use their fingers to touch patients may have their fingers regulated as "medical devices" and be accused of practicing medicine for merely touching patients.
Things that will be regulated out of existence
It is very clear that the FDA is intending to regulate and ultimately destroy the entire CAM industry (Complementary and Alternative Medicine).
Based on the explanations in the FDA's own document, the following things are likely to occur:
* All vitamins, nutritional supplements and functional foods will be stripped of their structure & function claims, reducing them to empty labels where virtually nothing at all is allowed to be stated.
* Vegetable juice will be regulated as a drug. Raw juice retreats will be raided or shut down.
* Growing and selling common garden herbs will get you arrested as a drug dealer.
* Massage oils and handheld massagers will be regulated as "medical devices."
* Yoga props, pilates machines and weight machines will be regulated as "medical devices" and require FDA approval before being sold or used.
* Raw sprouts and other anti-cancer foods will be regulated as drugs.
* Bottled water that "treats" dehydration will be regulated as a drug.
* Massage therapists who use hot rocks as part of their therapy will have the ROCKS regulated as medical devices! (It's true. The FDA will actually look at a pile of rocks and declare, "Those are medical devices!")
* Functional foods, supplements, vitamins and homeopathic remedies will disappear from store shelves, pending FDA "review." (The only things remaining will be processed junk foods and pharmaceuticals, which is exactly what Big Business wants.)
* Therapeutic tea products, such as green tea, will be outlawed and confiscated.
* Vitamin store owners will be arrested and prosecuted for "practicing medicine without a license."
* Citizens owning personal inventories of "unapproved drugs" (vitamins and herbs) may have their homes raided at gunpoint and their inventories confiscated by armed law enforcement agents.
* The importation of herbs and functional foods from all countries may be banned. Keep in mind that the FDA is the same agency that:
* Wants to label irradiated foods as "pasteurized."
* Voted to put the deadly drug Vioxx back on the market after tens of thousands of deaths, even after its own manufacurer pulled it from pharmacies.
* Raided a church at gunpoint, confiscating biofeedback machines and charging that they were "practicing medicine" by counseling church members on issues like depression.
* Openly allows corrupt, "on the take" experts to vote on new drug approvals, even when those experts are taking money from the same companies impacted by their votes.
* Refuses to legalize stevia, the safe, natural herbal sweetener that's used virtually everywhere else in the world. The agenda? Protect the profits of aspartame and other chemical sweeteners.
* Openly allows the mass poisoning of the public with cancer-causing food additives such as sodium nitrite.
* Refuses to enforce its own laws regarding unsafe chemical toxins in personal care products, allowing perfume and lotion companies to continue poisoning the public with cancer-causing chemicals that don't even have to be listed on the label, nor proven safe.
* Ordered the destruction of recipe books that mentioned stevia. (A campaign to keep the public ignorant of the herb.)
* Does everything in its power to protect drug company profits, including discrediting herbs, supplements and alternative medicine.
Does anyone honestly believe that this criminal organization has any capacity whatsoever to act in the public interest?
Even many Senators are fed up with the FDA's unprecedented level of corruption and criminal behavior.

Next, lodge your complaint against the FDA by commenting on this docket through the FDA's docket comment form.
And finally, write your Senator or Congressperson about this issue and let them know, in blatant language, that you will not stand by and allow the criminals running medicine today to take away your access to vitamins, supplements, herbs and homeopathic medicine.
Write the letter in your own words, even if it's just two sentences. Individual letters have a hundred times the impact of form letters. Medical wasteland USA Everything is at stake here.
If the FDA gets its way, the United States will become a medical wasteland, dominated by corporate drug company interests, where the naturopaths are imprisoned and their products destroyed. Supplements and herbs will become contraband, and gardeners who grow their own medicinal herbs may be raided and arrested by DEA agents wielding assault rifles. Simply selling dried broccoli sprouts as being "good anti-cancer foods" may land you in prison, and running a vitamin shop could result in you being arrested for "practicing medicine." Imagine a nation where Whole Foods stores are stripped of all herbs and supplements, where vitamin shops are emptied and abandoned, where books that promote herbs are bulldozed into large piles and burned, where natural healers are rounded up and "disappeared" into incarceration centers.
This is the future that will become reality if the FDA has its way. The plan has been explained to us in plain language. Any agency that openly states "vegetable juice will be regulated as a drug" has quite simply lost its marbles.
We're are now clearly being regulated by clinically insane bureaucrats. With this desperate proposal by the FDA -- clearly designed as a last-ditch effort to save the failing conventional medical industry from a massive public shift towards natural medicine -- the war against health freedom has reached our shores, and the FDA is plotting a 9/11-style attack to bring down the towers of health freedom in one swift motion.
This is the same agency that currently represents the greatest threat to the health and safety of the American people, far outweighing the threat of real terrorism. This agency, we have seen, will do ANYTHING to protect the profits and power of drug companies.
It will lie, steal, accept bribes, hide scientific evidence, distort statistics, commit scientific fraud, break federal laws, threaten its own drug safety scientists, conspire with drug company executives, intimidate American citizens and use terror-style tactics to achieve its goals of complete domination over foods, drugs and health.
Why do Americans tolerate terrorism in their own government? It is time we put a stop to this home-grown tyranny. We have fought too hard for freedom in the United States to allow us all to be steamrolled by a criminal front group covertly working for Big Pharma.
The FDA has declared war on natural medicine and the American people, and we will lose our family members, children, brothers and sisters as casualties of this war if we don't stand up now and demand radical changes.
It's time to stop this terrorist organization from destroying the lives of yet more U.S. citizens.
Make your voice heard now, or forever surrender your access to supplements, herbs, superfoods and functional foods. By the time the FDA is done with this country, we'll all be eating medication for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Draft Guidance for Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration. Tell them you support open access to vitamins, herbs, and supplements, and you do not want CAM to be regulated by the FDA.
3. Send this story to everyone you know. Spread the word. Raise the alarm. With enough public support, the FDA will be forced to back off this insane proposal.

Here's an actual FDA statement from the CAM Guidance report: For example, naturopathic cranberry tablets might be labeled for use to maintain the health of the urinary tract. In this example, the cranberry tablets generally would be regulated as "dietary supplements" ...if they were labeled for use to "maintain the health of the urinary tract" rather than "prevent urinary tract infections." The cranberry tablets would be regulated as "drugs" ...if they were labeled for use to "treat urinary tract infections" even if they were labeled as dietary supplements.

Additional developments in FDA's declaration of war on natural medicine A couple of quick developments on the breaking FDA story today.
First off, the URL we originally posted in our feature story only pointed to the *short* version of the FDA's downloadable document. The FULL version is found here: http://www.fda.gov/OHRMS/DOCKETS/98fr/06d-0480-gld0001.pdf
However, as of 7:45PM, Mountain Standard Time, the FDA's document server has frozen and probably crashed. So you may wish to wait until tomorrow to try to download this document. As of this writing, the document is unavailable from FDA servers. (It is possible they may have removed it, although I suspect the server simply crashed).
It seems ironic that NewsTarget has been subjected to numerous attacks by internet criminals who have so far failed to take our site offline.
Yet when we post a single story about the FDA and include a link to a downloadable document, the FDA's own web server crashes. I
t's not just us pointing to the document, by the way. Lots of other sites like HealthFreedomUSA.com and JonBarron.org are also pointing to it and urging grassroots action.
Word is spreading fast throughout the natural health community. In fact, I believe that Rima Laibow was one of the first people to bring this issue to the forefront, although there could be other groups I'm not aware of who were reporting on this issue long before now. (Sometimes it takes a while for the really big stories to bounce around the industry and get sufficiently noticed. I don't claim to know exactly who reported this first.
The strange thing is that the document has been posted on the FDA's website since December 2006. It was buried, though, and probably intentionally.) Finally, it's interesting to consider that under these new FDA guidelines, it will be illegal to hand a child a glass of raw vegetable juice if it has any health purpose whatsoever, but it will remain perfectly legal to drug them up on amphetamines like Ritalin.
So SPEED is legal, but not vegetable juice. Hmmm... Cigarettes will be legal, but echinacea will be outlawed. Statin drugs will be advertised on television, but green tea will be confiscated by port authorities and destroyed as contraband. Chemotherapy will remain legal, but selling anti-cancer broccoli sprouts will land you in prison.
Our world truly has gone crazy, folks. The insanity has reached a level of saturation that even the 20th century's greatest fiction authors like George Orwell could not have imagined. Who could have possibly guessed the FDA would try to label irradiated food as "pasteurized," or that the Almond Board of California would insist that paseturized almonds are identical to RAW almonds?
Who could have predicted that the FDA would ever say something as stupid as, "a glass of vegetable juice is a drug"? And yet that's what they have now essentially stated. It's only gonna get increasingly bizarre from here forward, I suspect.
The FDA is now acting out of desperation and has clearly lost all touch with reality. Its announcements now sound more like the rambling, confused speech of a drug-induced lunatic. Somebody please slap a "Do Not Resuscitate" tag on this organization and let it pass away in peace.

The FDA has a long history of attacking and suppressing health freedoms (see our article, Tyranny in the USA: The true history of FDA raids on healers, vitamin shops and supplement companies), but did you know the agency might now be threatening religious freedom, too? Under the new CAM Guidelines issued by the FDA (see Health freedom action alert: FDA attempting to regulate supplements, herbs and juices as "drugs"), any items used in altering or enhancing the "function" of a living person are subject to regulation and control by the FDA. Items used in religious practices are NOT excluded from these guidelines.
Holy water, for example, could be regulated as a drug. Churches that continue to use Holy water in their services could be raided and accused of practicing medicine. Sound absurd? The FDA has already conducted an armed raid on one church (see "tyranny" article, above) and made no announcement that churches are exempt from FDA rule.
The crackers and grape juice used in Communion, which are tied to changes in the energy, function or spirituality of the person receiving them, might be regulated as drugs and require a prescription from a doctor. The Elder who annoints a member of the church with oil could be arrested and charged with practicing medicine, and church members who use rosaries to help heal themselves or others could be similarly arrested for using "unapproved medical devices."
Baptism could be regulated as a medical procedure involving "untested, unapproved drugs" (the water). Prayer cloths could also be regulated as "medical devices" and would require FDA approval before being used. In fact, any object, artifact or religious implement used in church services could be subject to FDA regulation and, essentially, regulated out of existence. Prayer wheels, shawls, candles, mandalas, crosses, beads and religious musical instruments could all be confiscated by the FDA as "unapproved medical devices," and anyone who sells such devices could be arrested and imprisoned for doing so.
If this sounds too hard to believe, I certainly understand your skepticism. No sane person would ever think that Holy water, rosaries, prayer oils and cloths could ever be considered drugs and medical devices, but then again, the FDA is not an agency that operates within the boundaries of sanity.
The FDA believes it is above God. Any person who has ever dealt with the FDA will confirm this. The arrogance of the FDA is so extreme that if the agency could find a way to actually regulate God, it would no doubt have done so by now. Because prayer heals people; physically, emotionally and spiritually. It helps people recover from surgery and it calms troubled minds. Prayer is good medicine, and because it is helpful to people and thus competes with conventional medicine, the FDA no doubt hopes to figure out a way to ban it entirely.
The new FDA CAM Guidelines
Welcome to the new world of FDA tyranny. The FDA recently declared war on natural medicine, and it went way beyond herbs and vitamins in naming things to regulate as drugs or medical devices. The agency is now targeting "energy medicine" and stating that any physical objects used in the practice of energy medicine will be regulated as medical devices. That is, unless the therapy in question is completely useless and has no effect on patients, in which case it will be happily allowed.
The FDA's ultimate game plan? Force everyone to rely on dangerous prescription medications by eliminating the competition. Anything that offers people genuine healing seems slated to be outlawed or regulated out of existence. It's a revenue strategy: Keep the American people sick, outlaw anything that prevents disease, and arrest anyone who dares challenge the system. Even if they are pastors or priests.
It's the new system of medical tyranny, brought to you courtesy of the marketing branch of Big Pharma, also known as the Food and Drug Administration.
These new rules are all part of the FDA's new CAM Guidelines (Complementary and Alternative Medicine). The guide defines a medical device as:
...an instrument, apparatus, implement, machine, contrivance, implant, in vitro reagent, or other similar or related article, including any component, part, or accessory which is... intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of man or other animals, and which does not achieve its primary intended purposes through chemical action within or on the body of man or other animals, and which is not dependent upon being metabolized for the achievement of its primary intended purposes.
In other words, any device that affects the "function" of a human being is now a medical device. So a priest who uses the symbol of Jesus Christ on a cross, for example, to "bless" a member of the church as part of a healing therapy is now practicing medicine with an unapproved medical device, and is subject to arrest and prosecution.
Skeptics and critics: be warned
Many people are skeptical about all this. They say the FDA would never raid a church and arrest its members. That would normally be a believable position to take, except for the fact that the FDA has already raided a church, arrested its leaders and confiscated its religious tools, claiming they were "medical devices." I've documented this raid in the articles mentioned above. It may not have happened to YOUR church, but if someone else's church isn't safe from the FDA, what's to say that yours is?
The FDA has clearly proven its willingness to smash down the doors of a sacred building, terrorize the members and staff, and confiscate everything it can find in order to disrupt church operations. As a result, all this is not mere conjecture. It is an established pattern of behavior by the FDA. This little-known history of the FDA is documented fact.
Perhaps the FDA will claim it would never again enforce its CAM guidelines in such a manner, but that's not the point. The new guidelines ALLOW the FDA to choose, at its own discretion, to enforce these rules at any time, with no prior notice. One day, prayer implements might be openly tolerated, and the very next day, your church could be raided at gunpoint and have its pastor or priest arrested by federal authorities, dragged away in handcuffs merely for blessing someone with Holy water or sacred oils.
Whether churches are allowed to continue practicing religious freedom is now left up to corrupt FDA "experts" who can decide, on a whim, to outlaw any religious object, liquid or oil by regulating them as drugs or medical devices. In other words, it is now the FDA, not God, that grants permission to conduct religious ceremony in the United States. And the FDA believes it overrides God.
Importantly, the idea of "faith" does not stand up to the FDA's so-called scientific scrutiny. So a church can never prove that Holy water actually works, or that prayer beads have any scientific merit, and therefore the FDA can declare them all to be "unscientific and unapproved" devices, further discrediting them. Faith is not a concept that is understood at the Food and Drug Administration (except, perhaps, faith in Big Pharma and the gullibility of the American consumer).
The FDA now has total control over your life
The FDA, you see, has crept into virtually every area of your life. The agency now controls your foods, beverages, cosmetics, medicines, herbs, functional foods, superfoods, and potentially even your religious practices. The fact that you are allowed to participate in religious services in the church of your choice this coming weekend is only allowed by the grace of the FDA. And if the FDA changes its mind, religious services involving water, oils, symbols, foods or beverages could one day be outlawed, with National Guard troops stationed outside churches all across the country, barring entry into these "crime scenes" where "unapproved medicine" was being used.
Even religious art -- paintings, statues, sculptures and stained glass windows -- could be siezed as "unapproved medical devices" if they are described as having any sort of therapeutic or healing effect on the people who look upon them.
Think it could never happen? You have no idea what the FDA is really capable of. To maintain its control over the people and the entire medical industry, the FDA seems willing to do whatever is necessary, including violating Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, and any other freedom that gets in its way. It will violate federal laws, knowingly engage in fraudulent science, violate basic human ethics and morals, and use intimidation at every opportunity to protect its power over both industry and the public.
The agency has already proven itself willing and capable of engaging in such acts against the American people, and once natural medicine is largely shut down by the FDA, the Church may find itself the next target.

Think about it: With the FDA having declared war on natural medicine and attempting to virtually outlaw naturopathic practices altogether, natural healers will increasingly move into religious practice for protection. You will find more local churches springing up, where "blessed herbs" are given to members as part of a psychospiritual healing practice. The FDA, seeing that these churches are actually healing people with herbs, oils, homeopathy or functional foods, will target the churches and seek to shut them down. And when that happens, there's nothing that will stop this out-of-control federal agency from utterly destroying religious freedom and trapping the U.S. population under a medical monopoly dominated by FDA mafia bosses.
God save us from the FDA.
Because God is the next target. If you believe in religious freedom, then you cannot simultaneously support the FDA.
The Food and Drug Administration is, quite literally, the enemy of freedom (including religious freedom), and giving money to the drug companies by buying prescription medications is much like doing business with the devil. If we continue to support these industries, we will one day wake up and find ourselves imprisoned in a diseased, God-less nation of tyrants who prey upon degenerative disease to shore up their own power and profits.
Final challenge to the skeptics
For those who still can't believe all this and who think the FDA would never regulate religious items or attack religious freedoms, I have a direct challenge for you:
Show me the law that exempts churches from FDA regulation.
It's that simple. Show me the law. Because the reality of the situation is that you can't. There is no such law. And if one gets passed, then I'm starting my own healing church and handing out superfoods to all the members!
The truth is that there is nothing protecting religious organizations from the FDA. And if you're going to look at this issue with any degree of intellectual honesty, you've got to start with sobering fact. The FDA regulates the Church. And hence, the FDA believes its power supercedes that of God.
My promise: If you can find a law which clearly and openly states that churches are exempted from FDA regulation, I will print it on NewsTarget and issue a correction to this story. But barring any such discovery, I will continue to educate people on why the FDA is so dangerous, not merely to Freedom of Religion, but also to Freedom of Speech, health freedoms and even the freedom to save your own life using the system of medicine of your choice.
The FDA has done more to suppress the freedoms of the American people than any enemy combatant, terrorist group or "axis of evil." The real enemies to a free America are right here at home. It's time we recognized this serious threat and took action to eliminate it through desperately-needed reforms.

Death By Medicine: Do We Have a Choice?

It's official. The leading cause of death in America is not heart disease,
not cancer -- but medicine itself!
A new book co-authored by nutritionist Gary Null called -- appropriately
enough -- Death by Medicine
claims that over 700,000 Americans die each year as a result of medical
treatment.
A study by the Nutrition Institute of America attributes over 783,000 deaths
a year to "iatrogenic" causes --
induced inadvertently by medical treatment or diagnostic procedures.
In 2001, in comparison, just under 700,000 Americans died from heart disease
and 550,000 died of cancer.
According to a Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) article by
Dr. Barbara Starfield published in 2000,
the United States ranks 12th out of thirteen industrialized countries when
judged by sixteen health status indicators.
Japan, Sweden and Canada (the country health privateers attack as having
"socialized medicine") rank one, two and three respectively.
In 1990, the United States ranked 24th out of thirty-eight developed
countries in infant mortality,
with a rate of 9.2 deaths per 1,000 live births.
Meanwhile, in 2004 the United States spent $ 1.9 trillion on health care --
16% of our GDP.
Maybe that old saying "you get what you pay for" needs to be modified
slightly to "you get what you pay for, and sometimes
a whole lot less."
But that isn't even the bad news, folks.
Many of you reading this already are wary of "Newtonian medicine," where
every symptom must be attacked
with an equal and opposite force-- so you avail yourselves of alternatives.
Chances are you're among the more than one third of American adults who are
using some form of Complementary
or Alternative Medicine (CAM).
If certain forces have their way, however, that won't be for long.
Let me say here that I just finished writing the section of my Spontaneous
Evolution book with Bruce Lipton
called "Institutionalized Insanity," which is about how false, dysfunctional
and obsolete beliefs express themselves in society's institutions.
One of the chapters in that section is called "The Unhealthy Care System."
Even sprinkled with a little humor, it's not a cheerful read. But as Swami
has said, "The truth shall upset you free."
One of the few downsides in being among those who value the Golden Rule over

is that we tend to "misunderestimate" the dark powers.
In our desire not to "go there," we may not notice it when "there" comes

us to take preemptive action
in order to head off what can essentially make practicing alternative
medicine illegal.

They have been notorious for decades for their biased attacks and uneven

etc., automatically become untested drugs since they are being used to
prevent, treat, mitigate
or cure disease states.
Such use can only legally take place with FDA approved drugs.

the FDAHealth freedom action alert: FDA attempting to regulate supplements, herbs and juices as "drugs"
When it comes to health freedom, this is the FDA's end game.
A new FDA "guidance" document, published on the FDA's website, reveals plans to reclassify virtually all vitamins, supplements, herbs and even vegetable juices as FDA-regulated drugs. Massage oils and massage rocks will be classified as "medical devices" and require FDA approval. The document is called Docket No. 2006D-0480. Draft Guidance for Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration.
The FDA is accepting public comments on the docket until April 30th. They tried to sneak this under the radar, but word got out and now the natural health community is up in arms over this rule. If you wish to protect your access to nutritional supplements, herbs, essential oils, homeopathic medicine or any other "complementary" or "alternative" modality, it is crucial that you take action to post your comments with the FDA right now and write your representatives in Washington to put a stop to this outrageous effort to destroy natural medicine. (And be sure to really write them. Just sending an email has virtually no impact compared to writing a physical letter in your own words.)

This move by the FDA is designed to once and for all destroy the 1994 DSHEA law that has made supplements "legal" while eliminating nutritional supplements and natural medicine from the United States, ensuring monopoly profits and control by drug companies and the FDA. It is the latest action item by the FDA / Big Pharma conspiracy that will not stop until health freedom has been abolished, drug companies rule the nation, and every citizen is diagnosied with a fictitious disease and drugged up on monopoly-priced pharmaceuticals.
FDA "experts" will decide what's a drug or medical device Under these proposed guidelines, FDA "experts" (the same corrupt officials who reapproved Vioxx after it killed over 50,000 Americans) will decide whether herbs, supplements, vitamins or simple devices like massage stones are to be regulated as drugs and medical devices. If the FDA experts, in their infinite wisdom, decide that these things are to be reclassified, they will essentially be outlawed, stripped from the shelves, and regulated out of existence. Anyone who dares to manufacture, promote or sell such products may be branded a criminal and rounded up by armed FDA agents who have a well established history of suppressing natural medicine.
I've documented much of the criminal history of the FDA in my recent book, Natural Health Solutions and the Conspiracy to Keep You From Knowing About Them, which suddenly seems even more relevant today than when I wrote it. In that book, I documented the FDA ordered book burnings, the raids on vitamin shops, the kidnapping of natural health practitioners, the threats, intimidation and oppression tactics that have been used to suppress natural medicine for nearly a hundred years now. And now, with this CAM Products Regulation effort, the FDA is about to deal a final, fatal blow to the alternative medicine industry, outlawing nutritional supplements, functional foods, homeopathy and natural therapies all at once.
This is not a drill.
It really is time to be alarmed.
Nothing else I've written about this year is as important as this sinister plot to destroy natural medicine and force the American population to resort to dangerous prescription medications sold at monopoly prices under a system of medical tyranny. Your access to vitamins, supplements, herbs, and even energy medicine modalities is now directly threatened, and you have until April 30 to make your voice heard.
Action items
First, read the document yourself. Click here for the PDF version. Take special care to notice the following text, taken directly from the FDA's own document: (italicized text is from the FDA, with my own translation following) "...a product used in a CAM therapy or practice may be subject to regulation as a biological product, cosmetic, drug, device, or food (including food additives and dietary supplements) under the act or the PHS Act.
Second, neither the act nor the PHS Act exempts CAM products from regulation." Translation: Anything used in any system of medicine may now be regulated as a drug or medical device by the FDA.
This includes a biofeedback machine, acupuncture needles, a cup of herbal tea, massage oil, a glass of vegetable juice or even a bottle of water. "...if a person decides to produce and sell raw vegetable juice for use in juice therapy to promote optimal health... [and] if the juice therapy is intended for use as part of a disease treatment regimen instead of for the general wellness, the vegetable juice would also be subject to regulation as a drug under the Act."
Translation: Raw vegetable juice will be regulated as a drug and must be FDA approved as a drug if it has any health effect whatsoever. Handing a cup of raw vegetable juice to someone and telling them it's good for the detoxification of their liver will get you arrested for practicing medicine without a license and promoting an "unapproved drug." ..."biologically based practices" includes, but is not limited to, botanicals, animal-derived extracts, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, proteins, prebiotics and probiotics: whole diets, and "functional foods". ...a botanical product intended for use in treating a disease would generally be regulated as a drug." ..."functional foods" may be subject to FDA regulation as foods, dietary supplements, or drugs under the Act.
Translation: All foods, supplements, superfoods and functional foods may be reclassified as drugs by the FDA, then regulated off the market. If... the manipulative and body-based practices involve the use of equipment (such as massage devices) or the application of a product (such as a lotion, cream, or oil) to the skin or other parts of the body, those products may be subject to regulation under the Act."
Translation: Massage oils and creams will be regulated as "drugs" and acupuncture needles as "medical devices." Taking this absurdity one step further, massage therapists who use their fingers to touch patients may have their fingers regulated as "medical devices" and be accused of practicing medicine for merely touching patients.
Things that will be regulated out of existence
It is very clear that the FDA is intending to regulate and ultimately destroy the entire CAM industry (Complementary and Alternative Medicine).
Based on the explanations in the FDA's own document, the following things are likely to occur:
* All vitamins, nutritional supplements and functional foods will be stripped of their structure & function claims, reducing them to empty labels where virtually nothing at all is allowed to be stated.
* Vegetable juice will be regulated as a drug. Raw juice retreats will be raided or shut down.
* Growing and selling common garden herbs will get you arrested as a drug dealer.
* Massage oils and handheld massagers will be regulated as "medical devices."
* Yoga props, pilates machines and weight machines will be regulated as "medical devices" and require FDA approval before being sold or used.
* Raw sprouts and other anti-cancer foods will be regulated as drugs.
* Bottled water that "treats" dehydration will be regulated as a drug.
* Massage therapists who use hot rocks as part of their therapy will have the ROCKS regulated as medical devices! (It's true. The FDA will actually look at a pile of rocks and declare, "Those are medical devices!")
* Functional foods, supplements, vitamins and homeopathic remedies will disappear from store shelves, pending FDA "review." (The only things remaining will be processed junk foods and pharmaceuticals, which is exactly what Big Business wants.)
* Therapeutic tea products, such as green tea, will be outlawed and confiscated.
* Vitamin store owners will be arrested and prosecuted for "practicing medicine without a license."
* Citizens owning personal inventories of "unapproved drugs" (vitamins and herbs) may have their homes raided at gunpoint and their inventories confiscated by armed law enforcement agents.
* The importation of herbs and functional foods from all countries may be banned. Keep in mind that the FDA is the same agency that:
* Wants to label irradiated foods as "pasteurized."
* Voted to put the deadly drug Vioxx back on the market after tens of thousands of deaths, even after its own manufacurer pulled it from pharmacies.
* Raided a church at gunpoint, confiscating biofeedback machines and charging that they were "practicing medicine" by counseling church members on issues like depression.
* Openly allows corrupt, "on the take" experts to vote on new drug approvals, even when those experts are taking money from the same companies impacted by their votes.
* Refuses to legalize stevia, the safe, natural herbal sweetener that's used virtually everywhere else in the world. The agenda? Protect the profits of aspartame and other chemical sweeteners.
* Openly allows the mass poisoning of the public with cancer-causing food additives such as sodium nitrite.
* Refuses to enforce its own laws regarding unsafe chemical toxins in personal care products, allowing perfume and lotion companies to continue poisoning the public with cancer-causing chemicals that don't even have to be listed on the label, nor proven safe.
* Ordered the destruction of recipe books that mentioned stevia. (A campaign to keep the public ignorant of the herb.)
* Does everything in its power to protect drug company profits, including discrediting herbs, supplements and alternative medicine.
Does anyone honestly believe that this criminal organization has any capacity whatsoever to act in the public interest?

Next, lodge your complaint against the FDA by commenting on this docket through the FDA's docket comment form.
And finally, write your Senator or Congressperson about this issue and let them know, in blatant language, that you will not stand by and allow the criminals running medicine today to take away your access to vitamins, supplements, herbs and homeopathic medicine.

If the FDA gets its way, the United States will become a medical wasteland, dominated by corporate drug company interests, where the naturopaths are imprisoned and their products destroyed. Supplements and herbs will become contraband, and gardeners who grow their own medicinal herbs may be raided and arrested by DEA agents wielding assault rifles. Simply selling dried broccoli sprouts as being "good anti-cancer foods" may land you in prison, and running a vitamin shop could result in you being arrested for "practicing medicine." Imagine a nation where Whole Foods stores are stripped of all herbs and supplements, where vitamin shops are emptied and abandoned, where books that promote herbs are bulldozed into large piles and burned, where natural healers are rounded up and "disappeared" into incarceration centers.
This is the future that will become reality if the FDA has its way. The plan has been explained to us in plain language. Any agency that openly states "vegetable juice will be regulated as a drug" has quite simply lost its marbles.
We're are now clearly being regulated by clinically insane bureaucrats. With this desperate proposal by the FDA -- clearly designed as a last-ditch effort to save the failing conventional medical industry from a massive public shift towards natural medicine -- the war against health freedom has reached our shores, and the FDA is plotting a 9/11-style attack to bring down the towers of health freedom in one swift motion.

Additional developments in FDA's declaration of war on natural medicine A couple of quick developments on the breaking FDA story today.

However, as of 7:45PM, Mountain Standard Time, the FDA's document server has frozen and probably crashed. So you may wish to wait until tomorrow to try to download this document. As of this writing, the document is unavailable from FDA servers. (It is possible they may have removed it, although I suspect the server simply crashed).
It seems ironic that NewsTarget has been subjected to numerous attacks by internet criminals who have so far failed to take our site offline.
Yet when we post a single story about the FDA and include a link to a downloadable document, the FDA's own web server crashes. I
t's not just us pointing to the document, by the way. Lots of other sites like HealthFreedomUSA.com and JonBarron.org are also pointing to it and urging grassroots action.
Word is spreading fast throughout the natural health community. In fact, I believe that Rima Laibow was one of the first people to bring this issue to the forefront, although there could be other groups I'm not aware of who were reporting on this issue long before now. (Sometimes it takes a while for the really big stories to bounce around the industry and get sufficiently noticed. I don't claim to know exactly who reported this first.
The strange thing is that the document has been posted on the FDA's website since December 2006. It was buried, though, and probably intentionally.) Finally, it's interesting to consider that under these new FDA guidelines, it will be illegal to hand a child a glass of raw vegetable juice if it has any health purpose whatsoever, but it will remain perfectly legal to drug them up on amphetamines like Ritalin.
So SPEED is legal, but not vegetable juice. Hmmm... Cigarettes will be legal, but echinacea will be outlawed. Statin drugs will be advertised on television, but green tea will be confiscated by port authorities and destroyed as contraband. Chemotherapy will remain legal, but selling anti-cancer broccoli sprouts will land you in prison.
Our world truly has gone crazy, folks. The insanity has reached a level of saturation that even the 20th century's greatest fiction authors like George Orwell could not have imagined. Who could have possibly guessed the FDA would try to label irradiated food as "pasteurized," or that the Almond Board of California would insist that paseturized almonds are identical to RAW almonds?
Who could have predicted that the FDA would ever say something as stupid as, "a glass of vegetable juice is a drug"? And yet that's what they have now essentially stated. It's only gonna get increasingly bizarre from here forward, I suspect.
The FDA is now acting out of desperation and has clearly lost all touch with reality. Its announcements now sound more like the rambling, confused speech of a drug-induced lunatic. Somebody please slap a "Do Not Resuscitate" tag on this organization and let it pass away in peace.

The FDA has a long history of attacking and suppressing health freedoms (see our article, Tyranny in the USA: The true history of FDA raids on healers, vitamin shops and supplement companies), but did you know the agency might now be threatening religious freedom, too? Under the new CAM Guidelines issued by the FDA (see Health freedom action alert: FDA attempting to regulate supplements, herbs and juices as "drugs"), any items used in altering or enhancing the "function" of a living person are subject to regulation and control by the FDA. Items used in religious practices are NOT excluded from these guidelines.
Holy water, for example, could be regulated as a drug. Churches that continue to use Holy water in their services could be raided and accused of practicing medicine. Sound absurd? The FDA has already conducted an armed raid on one church (see "tyranny" article, above) and made no announcement that churches are exempt from FDA rule.
The crackers and grape juice used in Communion, which are tied to changes in the energy, function or spirituality of the person receiving them, might be regulated as drugs and require a prescription from a doctor. The Elder who annoints a member of the church with oil could be arrested and charged with practicing medicine, and church members who use rosaries to help heal themselves or others could be similarly arrested for using "unapproved medical devices."
Baptism could be regulated as a medical procedure involving "untested, unapproved drugs" (the water). Prayer cloths could also be regulated as "medical devices" and would require FDA approval before being used. In fact, any object, artifact or religious implement used in church services could be subject to FDA regulation and, essentially, regulated out of existence. Prayer wheels, shawls, candles, mandalas, crosses, beads and religious musical instruments could all be confiscated by the FDA as "unapproved medical devices," and anyone who sells such devices could be arrested and imprisoned for doing so.
If this sounds too hard to believe, I certainly understand your skepticism. No sane person would ever think that Holy water, rosaries, prayer oils and cloths could ever be considered drugs and medical devices, but then again, the FDA is not an agency that operates within the boundaries of sanity.
The FDA believes it is above God. Any person who has ever dealt with the FDA will confirm this. The arrogance of the FDA is so extreme that if the agency could find a way to actually regulate God, it would no doubt have done so by now. Because prayer heals people; physically, emotionally and spiritually. It helps people recover from surgery and it calms troubled minds. Prayer is good medicine, and because it is helpful to people and thus competes with conventional medicine, the FDA no doubt hopes to figure out a way to ban it entirely.
The new FDA CAM Guidelines
Welcome to the new world of FDA tyranny. The FDA recently declared war on natural medicine, and it went way beyond herbs and vitamins in naming things to regulate as drugs or medical devices. The agency is now targeting "energy medicine" and stating that any physical objects used in the practice of energy medicine will be regulated as medical devices. That is, unless the therapy in question is completely useless and has no effect on patients, in which case it will be happily allowed.
The FDA's ultimate game plan? Force everyone to rely on dangerous prescription medications by eliminating the competition. Anything that offers people genuine healing seems slated to be outlawed or regulated out of existence. It's a revenue strategy: Keep the American people sick, outlaw anything that prevents disease, and arrest anyone who dares challenge the system. Even if they are pastors or priests.
It's the new system of medical tyranny, brought to you courtesy of the marketing branch of Big Pharma, also known as the Food and Drug Administration.
These new rules are all part of the FDA's new CAM Guidelines (Complementary and Alternative Medicine). The guide defines a medical device as:
...an instrument, apparatus, implement, machine, contrivance, implant, in vitro reagent, or other similar or related article, including any component, part, or accessory which is... intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of man or other animals, and which does not achieve its primary intended purposes through chemical action within or on the body of man or other animals, and which is not dependent upon being metabolized for the achievement of its primary intended purposes.
In other words, any device that affects the "function" of a human being is now a medical device. So a priest who uses the symbol of Jesus Christ on a cross, for example, to "bless" a member of the church as part of a healing therapy is now practicing medicine with an unapproved medical device, and is subject to arrest and prosecution.
Skeptics and critics: be warned
Many people are skeptical about all this. They say the FDA would never raid a church and arrest its members. That would normally be a believable position to take, except for the fact that the FDA has already raided a church, arrested its leaders and confiscated its religious tools, claiming they were "medical devices." I've documented this raid in the articles mentioned above. It may not have happened to YOUR church, but if someone else's church isn't safe from the FDA, what's to say that yours is?
The FDA has clearly proven its willingness to smash down the doors of a sacred building, terrorize the members and staff, and confiscate everything it can find in order to disrupt church operations. As a result, all this is not mere conjecture. It is an established pattern of behavior by the FDA. This little-known history of the FDA is documented fact.
Perhaps the FDA will claim it would never again enforce its CAM guidelines in such a manner, but that's not the point. The new guidelines ALLOW the FDA to choose, at its own discretion, to enforce these rules at any time, with no prior notice. One day, prayer implements might be openly tolerated, and the very next day, your church could be raided at gunpoint and have its pastor or priest arrested by federal authorities, dragged away in handcuffs merely for blessing someone with Holy water or sacred oils.
Whether churches are allowed to continue practicing religious freedom is now left up to corrupt FDA "experts" who can decide, on a whim, to outlaw any religious object, liquid or oil by regulating them as drugs or medical devices. In other words, it is now the FDA, not God, that grants permission to conduct religious ceremony in the United States. And the FDA believes it overrides God.
Importantly, the idea of "faith" does not stand up to the FDA's so-called scientific scrutiny. So a church can never prove that Holy water actually works, or that prayer beads have any scientific merit, and therefore the FDA can declare them all to be "unscientific and unapproved" devices, further discrediting them. Faith is not a concept that is understood at the Food and Drug Administration (except, perhaps, faith in Big Pharma and the gullibility of the American consumer).
The FDA now has total control over your life
The FDA, you see, has crept into virtually every area of your life. The agency now controls your foods, beverages, cosmetics, medicines, herbs, functional foods, superfoods, and potentially even your religious practices. The fact that you are allowed to participate in religious services in the church of your choice this coming weekend is only allowed by the grace of the FDA. And if the FDA changes its mind, religious services involving water, oils, symbols, foods or beverages could one day be outlawed, with National Guard troops stationed outside churches all across the country, barring entry into these "crime scenes" where "unapproved medicine" was being used.
Even religious art -- paintings, statues, sculptures and stained glass windows -- could be siezed as "unapproved medical devices" if they are described as having any sort of therapeutic or healing effect on the people who look upon them.
Think it could never happen? You have no idea what the FDA is really capable of. To maintain its control over the people and the entire medical industry, the FDA seems willing to do whatever is necessary, including violating Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Speech, and any other freedom that gets in its way. It will violate federal laws, knowingly engage in fraudulent science, violate basic human ethics and morals, and use intimidation at every opportunity to protect its power over both industry and the public.
The agency has already proven itself willing and capable of engaging in such acts against the American people, and once natural medicine is largely shut down by the FDA, the Church may find itself the next target.

Think about it: With the FDA having declared war on natural medicine and attempting to virtually outlaw naturopathic practices altogether, natural healers will increasingly move into religious practice for protection. You will find more local churches springing up, where "blessed herbs" are given to members as part of a psychospiritual healing practice. The FDA, seeing that these churches are actually healing people with herbs, oils, homeopathy or functional foods, will target the churches and seek to shut them down. And when that happens, there's nothing that will stop this out-of-control federal agency from utterly destroying religious freedom and trapping the U.S. population under a medical monopoly dominated by FDA mafia bosses.
God save us from the FDA.
Because God is the next target. If you believe in religious freedom, then you cannot simultaneously support the FDA.
The Food and Drug Administration is, quite literally, the enemy of freedom (including religious freedom), and giving money to the drug companies by buying prescription medications is much like doing business with the devil. If we continue to support these industries, we will one day wake up and find ourselves imprisoned in a diseased, God-less nation of tyrants who prey upon degenerative disease to shore up their own power and profits.
Final challenge to the skeptics
For those who still can't believe all this and who think the FDA would never regulate religious items or attack religious freedoms, I have a direct challenge for you:
Show me the law that exempts churches from FDA regulation.
It's that simple. Show me the law. Because the reality of the situation is that you can't. There is no such law. And if one gets passed, then I'm starting my own healing church and handing out superfoods to all the members!
The truth is that there is nothing protecting religious organizations from the FDA. And if you're going to look at this issue with any degree of intellectual honesty, you've got to start with sobering fact. The FDA regulates the Church. And hence, the FDA believes its power supercedes that of God.
My promise: If you can find a law which clearly and openly states that churches are exempted from FDA regulation, I will print it on NewsTarget and issue a correction to this story. But barring any such discovery, I will continue to educate people on why the FDA is so dangerous, not merely to Freedom of Religion, but also to Freedom of Speech, health freedoms and even the freedom to save your own life using the system of medicine of your choice.
The FDA has done more to suppress the freedoms of the American people than any enemy combatant, terrorist group or "axis of evil." The real enemies to a free America are right here at home. It's time we recognized this serious threat and took action to eliminate it through desperately-needed reforms.

Death By Medicine: Do We Have a Choice?

It's official. The leading cause of death in America is not heart disease,
not cancer -- but medicine itself!
A new book co-authored by nutritionist Gary Null called -- appropriately
enough -- Death by Medicine
claims that over 700,000 Americans die each year as a result of medical
treatment.
A study by the Nutrition Institute of America attributes over 783,000 deaths
a year to "iatrogenic" causes --
induced inadvertently by medical treatment or diagnostic procedures.
In 2001, in comparison, just under 700,000 Americans died from heart disease
and 550,000 died of cancer.
According to a Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) article by
Dr. Barbara Starfield published in 2000,
the United States ranks 12th out of thirteen industrialized countries when
judged by sixteen health status indicators.
Japan, Sweden and Canada (the country health privateers attack as having
"socialized medicine") rank one, two and three respectively.
In 1990, the United States ranked 24th out of thirty-eight developed
countries in infant mortality,
with a rate of 9.2 deaths per 1,000 live births.
Meanwhile, in 2004 the United States spent $ 1.9 trillion on health care --
16% of our GDP.
Maybe that old saying "you get what you pay for" needs to be modified
slightly to "you get what you pay for, and sometimes
a whole lot less."
But that isn't even the bad news, folks.
Many of you reading this already are wary of "Newtonian medicine," where
every symptom must be attacked
with an equal and opposite force-- so you avail yourselves of alternatives.
Chances are you're among the more than one third of American adults who are
using some form of Complementary
or Alternative Medicine (CAM).
If certain forces have their way, however, that won't be for long.
Let me say here that I just finished writing the section of my Spontaneous
Evolution book with Bruce Lipton
called "Institutionalized Insanity," which is about how false, dysfunctional
and obsolete beliefs express themselves in society's institutions.
